PRP Treatment is a non-surgical method aimed at stimulating “new” and “denser” hair growth.
There are over 30 growth factors in Platelet Rich Plasma that can repair blood vessel damage, skin damage and help “sleepy hair follicles” to wake up. For example, PDGF (Platelet Derived Growth Factor), VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor), EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) are just some of the growth factors that provide nutrition to the cells in the scalp, promote new blood supply to hair follicles, and reduce inflammation of the scalp creating healthy, productive hair follicles. The result is a scalp that is rejuvenated and more able to produce new and thicker hair.

Hair Conditions Showing Improvement
Spot Baldness (Alopecia Areata – AA):
Spot baldness is a highly inflammatory auto-immune disease where hair follicle stem cells are dormant.

Male Pattern Baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia – AGA):
Men typically display hairline recession at the temples and crown balding. PRP in hair restoration has multiple advantages.

Female Pattern Baldness (Feminine Androgenetic Alopecia – AGA):
Women normally present diffusely thin hair over the top of their scalps.

The Therapeutic PRP Circle
After a consultation with Dr David Yu, we can schedule your first appointment for your treatment. Effective PRP treatments typically involve one visit every 4 to 8 weeks for a duration of three therapies to address thinning hair in targeted zones on the scalp. The subsequent maintenance therapy may occurs every 12 months.
After Procedure Care
There is minimal to no downtime required for patients who undergo PRP treatments to address hair loss. A warm shower (not hot) after the procedure can help to stimulate blood flow in the treatment areas. Over the counter pain relief medication such as Paracetamol can also be used. Patients should avoid hair colouring, processing or the use of heated hair tools such as a hair dryer for about 48 hours after the treatment has been completed.
Possible Side Effects Of PRP Treatment
- Mild swelling of the forehead following local aesthesia. This usually resolve spontaneously one day after the treatment.
- Headache if occurs usually resolves after one day after the treatment.
- Possible scalp tenderness following injections of PRP.
