What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a blood plasma that contains a high concentration of platelets. It has remarkable healing and regenerative properties and is a great natural treatment for improving skin texture, elasticity as well as for treatment of scarring caused by acne.
How is Platelet Rich Plasma Obtained and Used For Skin Treatment?
A small amount of your own blood is collected and processed in a sterile manner to obtain the platelet rich plasma. Platelets are rich with growth factors and are commonly used to treat and heal injuries and cell regeneration. The PRP treatment is a safe procedure that stimulates collagen and is great for treating thin skin around the eyes, neck and hands. What to Expect During and After the Procedure?
We start by drawing out a small amount of blood from your body and prepare the PRP. Meanwhile your skin will be cleansed and prepared for treatment. This is a relatively quick procedure (45 minutes in total). The injections are only mildly uncomfortable and relatively painless. After the procedure, you can go back to your regular daily activities. As a result of the needles, you might experience mild swelling, redness or bruising that will fade within 1-3 days after the procedure. Since the PRP is made from the cells of your body, there is no possibility of negative side effects.
When will I see results?
The goal of this treatment is improving skin texture, softening the lines and tightening of the skin. You will notice results within the first 3-4 weeks after treatment and notice an improvement after several more weeks. For the best outcome, you will need three treatment sessions scheduled at 1 to 2 months apart.
